Just a few picts I took this evening. Spent 12 hours rewiring everything, brand new usb powered hubs, longer cables, and labeled everything.

Open Cockpit Radios have Arrived!

Posted by Matt On February - 25 - 2010

The OpenCockpits Radios I ordered arrived today!

And here is the fire extinguisher panel! (I’ll be building the fire box soon. Not sure why the picture looks blue, they are grey)

I resized the pedestal to a 2 row unit as this simmer did which will help out with space.

Here is the pedestal during a test fit. One coat of primer so far, will sand and paint this weekend. Will order more panels and radios in the next couple of weeks!

Backlit testing the fire panel

The radios worked right out of the box!

And they look GREAT! VERY HAPPY WITH OPENCOCKPITS RADIOS!

Instructor Station

Posted by Matt On February - 18 - 2010

I just purchased Instructor Station by Luis Gordo. Its priced really cheap for what it does! (About 40euro or $55 USD) You can run it in demo mode for 3 minutes to test. (I wish that was maybe 10 minutes but it did give me enough time to evaluate it.

It’ll work with project magenta, over a network, and packs a lot of stuff for the price!

Check it out!

AivlaSoft Electronic Flight Bag

Posted by Matt On February - 16 - 2010

Following up on my original post of the most important EFB software you could ever have in your cockpit, I have since purchased the software and created a quick video of some of the features this software does.

Heres the direct link to the software: http://www.aivlasoft.com/products/index.html

I HIGHLY recommend ever simmer have this, no matter what your sim setup is!

Take a look!

Patrick flys the Sim!

Posted by Matt On February - 15 - 2010

My good buddy Patrick stopped by today and flew the test flight from Los Angeles International over  to March Air Reserve Base!

I took the copilot seat to handle communications on landing, but overall everything went really well for his first flight! (A rough landing but thats to be expected!)

Great job Pat!

737 Radios

Posted by Matt On February - 6 - 2010

Just ordered a couple of 737 radios from OpenCockpits! Eren from Revolution said he really liked them. A few cool simmers bought my GoFlight radios that I was selling, so I put that money into these more authentic 737 looking radios. I’ve ordered a com radio, a nav radio, an ATC radio and a blank fire engine panel that I can use for size to make my fire box above the pedestal.

I’m partial to the amber/yellow digits so I’ve picked those up:

COM Radio

NAV Radio

ATC / Transponder
